The General Foundation Program conducted two consecutive staff development sessions from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on 8th March 2018 in Hall B on the Second Floor in the College premises. The first session, which was presented by Mr. Amjad Abo Kriefih, was entitled Teaching Reading: An Exploratory Approach. Mr. Abo Kriefih shed light on the reading sub-skills such as skimming, scanning, and inferring meaning from contexts. The presentation initiated a lot of fruitful discussions on the importance of reading in any given academic setting. The second session, which was presented by Mr. Moez Marrouchi, was entitled Quality Assessment Tools. Mr. Marrouchi briefed the audience about three essential assessment tools: PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and environmental factors), SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), and ADRI Model (Approach, Deployment, Results, and Improvement). A special focus was given to ADRI Model as it is used by Oman Academic Accreditation Authority to assess educational institutions’ performance.
