The General Foundation Program conducted two consecutive staff development sessions from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on 8th March 2018 in Hall B on the Second Floor in the College premises. The first session, which was presented by Mr. Amjad Abo Kriefih, was entitled Teaching Reading: An Exploratory Approach. Mr. Abo Kriefih shed light on the reading sub-skills such as skimming, scanning, and inferring meaning from contexts. The presentation initiated a lot of fruitful discussions on the importance of reading in any given academic setting. The second session, which was presented by Mr. Moez Marrouchi, was entitled Quality Assessment Tools. Mr. Marrouchi briefed the audience about three essential assessment tools: PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and environmental factors), SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), and ADRI Model (Approach, Deployment, Results, and Improvement). A special focus was given to ADRI Model as it is used by Oman Academic Accreditation Authority to assess educational institutions’ performance.
Career Advisory Services conducted an interview for the company- IFMC for the students of Mazoon College on 4,March,2018 from 10:30 a.m. in Meeting Room,Second Floor. 15 students appeared for the interview. Mr.Mazin Al Mahrouqi ,
Manager, interviewed the students .Two students were selected for training and job with a reasonable amount of payment for the same.
The seminar on “Research Basics-Benefits and its Uses” was conducted by the Department of CS & IT on 01.03.2018 at C-116 from 10.30 am to 11.30 am. The programme was convened by Dr. Mohamed Abbas, Head/CS&IT and coordinated byMr. M.A.Muqtadir, Lecturer.
The seminar started with welcome address given by Dr. Mohammed Abbas, Head/CS&IT, and Convener. The students of MIS, IST and CS majors have attended Seminar.
The seminar commenced with a differentiation between what is research and what is not research, followed by its objective, motivation and its types. Since research is an integral part of every educational institution so a urge of awareness regarding research was sensed and delivered through this lecture.
The program ended with question and answer session and a vote of thanks by Mr.M.A.Muqtadir Coordinator.
